About The Stems
The Stems are an Australian indie rock group that formed in the early 1980s. Their sound combines elements of power pop, punk and garage rock, and they are recognized as one of the premier acts of the 1980s burgeoning Perth indie rock scene.
The Stems music was at its peak of popularity between 1985 and 1987 and during this time they released the single "Taken All My Time/At First Sight" as well as two studio albums, At First Sight (1986) and Soulsville (1987). In 1987, the band toured the United States and Canada in support of their album Soulsville.
The group disbanded in 1988 but reunited in the mid-2000s to produce a live album released in 2009.
The Stems have been cited as an influence to many of their peers and many of their classic singles have become indie classics and have been covered by several other artists over the years.
